Peggy's First Christmas

Wow, I can't believe it's my first Christmas! I'm a little nervous, but also super excited. I've seen all the decorations and heard the stories from the other pups, but experiencing it for myself is a whole new level of excitement.

My mummy has been busy getting ready for the big day. They brought a big tree inside and covered it in shiny things. I tried to help, but they kept shooing me away. I guess I'm not as helpful as I thought.

She also put up lights outside and decorated the whole house with lights and stockings. My favourite part is the wreath on the door with a big red bow.

Today, my mummy told me about a special tradition they do every year. They hang stockings by the fireplace and fill them with treats and toys for all the pups. They even have one for me! I hope I get some yummy treats and maybe another fun toy.

I'm so excited for Christmas morning. I know there will be lots of delicious food and all my favourite people will be there. Plus, I get to wear my festive bandana It's going to be a magical day, and I'm so grateful to spend it with my loving family. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good bark!

Me and Raven went to Pure Connection Pets just before Christmas Day and had a photo with the Christmassy setup that was in store. We were both a little naughty while there, I decided that I wanted a treat so I helped myself, mummy said to let go so she could put it back however I held on tight and then Raven joined in and held the other end. In the end mummy had to buy it as between us we had half eaten it :)

All ready to open my presents on Christmas morning, I got lots of treats, many many toys and had a great fun day with the family.

Peggy Meets Santa-Paws at Dobbies

As I entered Dobbies Garden Centre with my mummy, my tail couldn't stop wagging with excitement. This was my very first visit, and I had a feeling something special awaited me inside. The air was filled with anticipation and festive cheer.

We weaved through the crowd, and that's when I saw it—a grand red chair placed in the center of the store, surrounded by sparkling lights and ornaments. It was unmistakably Santa's chair. Though I had only heard stories about Santa Claus, I knew he was someone to be adored and respected.

Mummy led me towards the queue of other dogs and owners waiting their turn to meet Santa. I watched as dogs ahead of me approached Santa with excitement, wagging their tails like there was no tomorrow. I couldn't wait to experience it myself.

Finally, it was my turn. Santa's deep voice boomed with a hearty "Ho, ho, ho!" as I stood in front of him. His long white beard and red suit made him look just like the Santa from the stories. I ran and jump up at Santa so excited to see him and tell him what I want for Christmas!

Santa smiled kindly and spoke to me. "So, Peggy, have you been a good little girl this year?" he asked, mischief twinkling in his eyes.

I tilted my head, not quite understanding the question, but Santa's soothing voice put me at ease. Mummy laughed and said, "Oh, she must be! She's such a cutie."

Santa chuckled along, then reached into his bag of gifts. He pulled out a crinkly, squeaky  toy fox and said, "For being such a good pup, here's a special present just for you, Peggy!"
My eyes grew wide with delight as I saw the toy. My tail couldn't wag any faster as I gently took it from Santa's hand, feeling incredibly special. I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the kind gesture.

After bidding Santa farewell with a bark of gratitude, mummy and I walked away, the toy fox held proudly in my mouth. I couldn't wait to show it off to my furry friends.

Telling Santa that I have been a very good girl (most of the time)

As we left Dobbies Garden Centre, I felt a warmth and happiness deep within me. Meeting Santa had been an unforgettable experience, and I knew that this was just the beginning of many more adventures to come.

I can't wait for Christmas now! lots of presents, treats and spending quality time with family

Peggy's First Remembrance Day

As the sun began to rise over Tenterden, Kent, I could feel the excitement and anticipation building inside me. This was going to be my first Remembrance Day in this town, and I had heard that the ceremonies here were particularly special.

I watched as the parade started, the local cadets leading the way with their precise marching. Their uniforms glistened in the sunlight, filling me with a sense of pride and admiration.

Walking through the streets, I noticed that they were lined with people of all ages, gathered to pay their respects. Standing among strangers, we were united by our desire to remember those who had served and made sacrifices for our country.

Reaching the town's war memorial, the ceremony began with the solemn laying of wreaths by local representatives and dignitaries. Then, there was the hushed silence, lasting two minutes, where the only sound was the gentle rustling of leaves in the autumn breeze.

During that moment of silence, my heart swelled with emotion as I thought about the bravery and selflessness of those who had fought in wars.

As the ceremony came to an end, the gathered crowd joined together in singing the national anthem. The passion and unity in their voices were overwhelming. It was in that moment that I knew Tenterden was a truly special place, where the traditions and patriotism ran deep, and where Remembrance Day held a sacred place in the hearts of its people.

Peggy's First Halloween

 Dear Diary,

I can hardly contain my excitement - it's my very first Halloween! As a little puppy, this holiday seems both thrilling and mysterious. I've seen the humans of the neighbourhood put up spooky decorations, and now it's finally my turn to experience this enchanting event.

My mummy have been talking about Halloween for weeks, planning our costumes and how we will celebrate. Although I don't entirely understand the concept of costumes, I can't wait to join in the fun. I've heard whispers of princesses, superheroes, and even spooky creatures, and it all sounds fascinating.

Mummy tried to make me a ghost costume out of an old sheet and put me on the doorstep but I wasn't rather confused and didn't like it.

She then got me a bat headband which I thought I looked bat-tastic when wearing it!  I must admit, when I first tried it on, I was a bit confused, wagging my tail vigorously while trying to understand why my mummy was laughing so much. But hey, if it makes her happy, I'm all in!

As the sun sets and darkness creeps in, the neighbourhood transforms into a thrilling wonderland. The streets are filled with colourful lights, creepy sound effects, and the smell of yummy treats fills the air. My senses are on high alert, and my furry tail can't stop wagging.

Trick-or-treaters start knocking on our door, and my mummy would turns give out candy. I curiously peek through the crack, trying to understand what all the fuss is about. The kids are dressed in various costumes, some ghoulish and others so cute I could lick their faces! I wag my tail playfully, hoping to catch their attention and get some extra treats.

After the trick-or-treating commotion dies down, my mummy let me join them outside for a spooky walk around the neighbourhood. The streets are alive with laughter, chatter, and the sound of leaves crunching under our paws.

I can't help but be overwhelmed with joy - I'm a part of this magical celebration! Every house we pass is filled with decorations, cobwebs, and glowing pumpkins. Some even have giant inflatable monsters that try to scare me, but I'm too busy wagging my tail to be frightened.

As the night goes on, my paws become tired, but I don't want the Halloween fun to end. I've had the best time exploring the spooky atmosphere, meeting new friends (both human and canine), and indulging in the occasional treat that my mummy would sneak to me.

As we return home, I plop down on my cosy bed, exhausted but content. This Halloween has been an incredible adventure, and I can't wait for next year's celebration. Until then, I'll dream of pumpkins, treats, and howling at the moon on this special night.

Goodnight, Diary, and happy Halloween!

With love,

Peggy x

Did you know my mummy does Photography?

Last week on a wet and cloudy day she took me to a local field where there was lots of wildflowers and sunflowers. Turns out being small makes it harder to see these pretty flowers.

Don't think I did too bad considering I was off lead, in a new place and it was my first proper photoshoot outside the home or garden.

Does the above remind you of someone? My auntie says I look like Dobby from Harry Potter :)

Peggy Completes Foundation Level Puppy Class

I'm so proud to say that my mummy and I have completed puppy class together!

It's been such a rewarding experience and we both worked really hard. Through the program, I have has learned valuable skills and behaviours, including basic obedience, socialization, and proper leash walking.

We practiced every week with our trainer and also worked on training at home between classes. It was exciting to see my progress and improve week after week.

Now that we've completed puppy class, we are committed to continuing regular training and socialization to help me to become a well-mannered and happy adult dog. We grateful for the valuable skills and knowledge we've gained through puppy class and look forward to continuing our journey together!

In these classes I've learned:

  • Sit
  • Paw
  • Lay Down
  • Stay
  • Meet & Greet
  • Basic Recall
If you need a dog trainer local to Kent, we highly recommend Helen!

When Peggy arrived we knew that we wanted her to be well trained and well socialised, due to Prue being scared of other dogs we didn't want this for Peggy, plus being 'that' breed I wanted to prove those people that its not the breeds fault. I had researched a couple of different trainers local to me, while it was tempting to go with the 'cheapest' however we didn't want the cheapest we wanted the best. Which in our opinion Helen is Kent's very own Dog Whisperer!

We are due to start the next stage of Peggy's training with Helen and can't wait!

Peggy absolutely loves Helen, we even saw her at a dog show and Peggy was so excited to see Helen and Neville the Mastiff.

Peggy's First Dog Show

Today I went to Large Breed Dog Rescue Annual Fun Day, where there was lots going on such as a Fun Dog Show, Charity & Welfare Stands, Raffles & Tombola's and lots of yummy food stands. I was over the moon when my human told me we were going to a dog show and I was going to take part. I had never been to one before, and I was excited to meet new dogs and show off my skills.

Best of all my cousin Sky was coming along too!

We have been working on my listing skills whilst at puppy class and my human is hoping I will listen whilst at the dog show. We practiced walking on a lead and standing still, sitting nicely and giving paw. She also took great care in grooming me, making sure my coat was silky smooth and shiny and no eye boogers!

As we arrived at the show, I couldn't help but marvel at all the different breeds and sizes of dogs milling around. Big dogs, small dogs, fluffy dogs, and sleek dogs. It was amazing!

There was lots of yummy smells and I sure had to taste a sample from every stall, made sure to help myself to a few which mummy then had to pay for! We came home with some yummy treats for at a later date and to share with Phoebe and Prue.

The first class I took part in was Best Puppy under 6 months, and I watched intently as other dogs demonstrated their skills. I tried my best to show off my good behavior, but I was still quite young and more curious about the other dogs around me.

Next, me and Sky both took part in Prettiest Bitch and neither of us won! :(

The 3rd Class we took part in was Dog/Bitch most like its Owner and we come 4th :)

As we left the show, I felt contentedly curled up in my owner's lap, with two shiny new rosette pinned to my collar. I couldn't wait to go to more dog shows and make new friends. It was an exhilarating experience, and I was grateful to have had the chance to show off my skills and win an award.

Can't Wait for Paws in the Park in a few weeks and hopefully I will get some more rosettes!

Peggy's First Trip to the Beach

My mummy took me on my first trip to the beach! I didn't know what to expect, but I was so excited to explore this new place!

We drove for what felt like forever, and I couldn't stop wagging my tail in anticipation. When we finally arrived, I couldn't believe what I saw - pebbles, sand and lots and lots of water as far as the eye could see.

As soon as we got out of the car, I started sprinting towards the water. I was eager to jump in and play! The sand was so much fun to dig my paws into, and the waves crashing onto the shore fascinated me.

At first, the water was a bit scary, but my mummy were there to reassure me and hold my paw. After a while, I got more comfortable and even started to chase the rolling waves.

Sky was busy playing with her tennis ball to notice any of the other dogs. I occasionally stole her ball to try and get her to play with me but she wouldn't.

So met some new furry friends! We sniffed each other and played chase, which was a ton of fun. I even tried to play with some children who were running in the water so I chased them, my mummy told me off for running after children, as 1) they might not like dogs, 2) they might try and steal me 3) because its naughty not to listen to my mummy and not run off!

After a long afternoon of running around, swimming, and playing, I was tired. But I was also so happy. I couldn't stop wagging my tail.. I was so sad to be going home that I refused to walk back to the car.

As we drove back home, I fell asleep, dreaming of the next time I'll be able to come back to the beach. Today was definitely an adventure that I'll never forget!

My humans took me to a beach called Camber Sands, which is in East Sussex, UK! It was a bit chilly, but it didn't stop me from digging in the sand and chasing the waves and the occasional person.

I can't wait to go back to Camber Sands and explore even more of the beautiful beach!

Can wait for my next beach trip!!

If you have any dog friendly beach recommendations please let us know
